Technology speeds response times
10 December 2004 - The passing of the Electronic Transactions Act 2002, which governs the use of electronic communications, has enabled Government Departments to examine their business practices in the field of communications with their clients. Having been through the telegram, telex and facsimile eras, Crown Minerals is now embracing websites, for both exhibiting and finding information, and emails for instantaneous transmissions.
The Electronic Transactions Act reduces legal uncertainty regarding electronic communications, including “postmarking” delivery of messages and validating electronic “signatures".
You can now have all correspondence from Crown Minerals sent to you by email, if you wish. The use of email correspondence will reduce processing times for permit applications and other dealings. It will also prepare clients for our online permitting services that will be introduced next year.
Most organisations and internet providers limit the file size of email attachments. Emails with large attachments, particularly mapping files, therefore may be rejected by a mail server. This move to email communications presents an opportunity for organisations to review and adjust these limits if necessary.
If you wish to correspond by email you will need to provide us with a written authorisation, including confirmation of your email address.
