In preparation for the Great South basin blocks offer Crown Minerals have made digital well logs and enhanced well data sets available online free of charge.
Crown Minerals have purchased digital logs for a number of wells in the Great South basin. Now interested parties can down load digital logs for all 8 wells drilled in this highly prospective basin. These files have been merged (TD to top depth logged as one file irrespective of the number of open hole sections logged) and gas data from the mudlog (total gas, C1-C5) has been digitised also.
Spreadsheets have been generated that incorporate key well data sets. This data has been obtained from existing open file Petroleum Reports (well completion reports), revised and standardised biostratigraphy reports (from GNS Science) and supplementary geochemical reports.
Using the data from the spreadsheets and the newly acquired logs a 1/1500 scale stylised composite log (well card) has been generated for each well. The well cards have great ‘quick look’ attributes.
Seismic cross sections have been generated from existing seismic lines with the well bore and formations interpolated on the image files.
This well data set constitutes the third such project Crown Minerals has commissioned since December 2004. A total of 9 wells cards (including Galleon-1) have been produced for the Great South basin, following from the 12 well cards produced for the East Coast and 12 for Northland and Taranaki basins.
