Crown Minerals Releases Discussion Document on Reporting Regulations

22 June 2006 - Discussion paper sets out proposed changes to reporting regulations, and reasons for the changes. The closing date for comment is 20 July 2006.

Recent years have seen changes to the administration of the Crown Minerals estate in connection with amendments to the Crown Minerals Act 1991 and reviews of minerals programmes, and further efficiencies are expected from the proposed enhanced on-line data and permitting services.

Accordingly, it is timely to review the Crown Minerals (Petroleum) Regulations 1999 and the Crown Minerals (Minerals and Coal) Regulations 1999.

A number of changes to these current reporting regulations are now proposed. These changes and the reasons for the changes are outlined in the discussion paper below.

The closing date for comment is 20 July 2006. If the proposed changes to regulations are to be progressed in a timely manner so as to coincide with the introduction of the Ministry’s enhanced on-line data and permitting services, then the Ministry will be unable to concede to any requests for extension of this closing date.
