New Exploration Company Arrowhead Energy
22 March 2006 - Claire Energy and IRM form new company Arrowhead Energy to operate New Zealand exploration interests.
A new petroleum exploration company, Arrowhead Energy Ltd, has been formed to operate in New Zealand and is to set up an office in Wellington.
Chris McKeown, formerly hydrocarbons business development manager with GNS Science, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of Arrowhead.
Dr McKeown said the company has been formed to combine the New Zealand business interests of private Perth-based company Claire Energy and associated International Resource Management Corporation.
He said Arrowhead has interests in three basins, Taranaki onshore, and offshore permits in both Canterbury and the East Coast. Arrowhead has a 33% stake in the Cheal oil discovery in onshore Taranaki, and a 15% interest in the southern Canterbury permit where the Cutter-1 well is to be drilled later this year by operator Tap Oil.
The new company will also have a 15% interest in two other Tap-operated permits off the Wairarapa coast of the North Island.
Dr McKeown, before coming to New Zealand from Britain to work for GNS Science, worked as a reservoir engineer for British Gas and as a structural geologist for Midland Valley Exploration.
