New Zealand Petroleum Conference: Beyond 08
26 March 2008 - March 2008 saw Crown Minerals host the biennial NZ Petroleum Conference at Auckland’s SkyCity Convention Centre. This was made possible with the generous support of a number of sponsors including Major Sponsors, Westpac Institutional Bank, Genesis Energy, Bell Gully, and Fugro.
The 2008 New Zealand Petroleum Conference: Beyond 08 generated strong media interest with a plethora of radio, print and TV news articles appearing across the country leading up to, and during, the event. The conference continues to be an important showcase event for industry, highlighting key issues, successes, and offering an opportunity to capture the essence of New Zealand’s prospects for future discoveries of oil and gas.
The event attracted over 500 international and national delegates and was noted for it’s high calibre of speakers and excellent networking opportunities. Well regarded speakers included Eric Mathews (Australian Worldwide Exploration Ltd), Jacqueline Lang Weaver (University of Houston Law Center), Chris Uruski (GNS Science), Steve Morice (Shell Todd Oil Services Limited), and Wolfgang Leeb, (OMV New Zealand Ltd).
Delegate’s choice for Best Speaker overall goes to Brendan O’Donovan, Chief Economist at Westpac Institutional Bank, while Stephanie Nyman from The University of Waikato, won the Best Technical Poster Trophy. Congratulations to both winners.
