TAG well stimulation increases flows at Cheal A7
2 June 2010 - TAG Oil Ltd has substantially increased oil flows from its Cheal A7 well at its onshore Taranaki field following fracture stimulation at the company’s Cheal oil and gas field.
Sources: TAG Oil and Lindsay Clark
TAG said a recent fracture stimulation into the Mt. Messenger Formation had increased daily production rates at Cheal A7 well to about 292 barrels of oil equivalent per day from pre-stimulation rates of about 80 BOE per day.
The A7 well has been tied into the Cheal production station.
TAG chief executive officer Garth Johnson said the encouraging result at Cheal A7 provides a catalyst for future field development.
He said TAG plans in the near future to begin a Taranaki drilling campaign that will include horizontal drilling with multi-stage fracturing, combined with downhole heating and advanced recovery technologies as standard completion methodology.
