The Petroleum Skills Association NZ and Crown Minerals provided a unique opportunity for students to attend the inaugural interactive student workshop at the 2010 New Zealand Petroleum Conference.

The workshops were provided to promote career opportunities within the oil and gas industry to students interested in working in the earth sciences, engineering or environmental fields.

Twenty students from Auckland and Taranaki attended the workshop which ran from 9am to 1.30pm on Monday 20 September and again on Tuesday the 21st. The workshop saw four innovative speakers currently working within the industry present to the students on different pathways they have individually taken to get to where they are today and also showcase some exciting careers in the industry.

The students also had the opportunity to speak to many different industry members that attended the conference and exhibition.

The Petroleum Skills Association also announced a new scholarship programme, some of which include full payment of year 13 students fees throughout their study at university for 3 years.

For more information please contact Sheree Long, Manager of Petroleum Skills Association NZ.
