Where is this data from?

New Zealand Petroleum & Minerals maintains a collection of exploration reports. These include the results of all exploration carried out in New Zealand since the 1880s and provides a valuable source of information on New Zealand’s prospects .

How do I access it?

We hold these reports within an FREE online database, allowing you to easily discover, preview and access exploration information by browsing database fields and digital reports online.

Recent highlights
  • Glass Earth has flown two of New Zealand’s largest airborne geophysical surveys covering the Central Volcanic region in 2005 (Report MR4214) and the Otago region in 2007 (Report MR4327). They have now released all aerial geophysical data from their survey of Otago.
  • A validated listing of our entire seismic field data holding has been completed.
  • A validated listing of petroleum samples held at the new core store, including sample photos, has been completed.
