New Zealand Minerals Data Pack released

Publish date: 29 February 2016

New Zealand Petroleum & Minerals, the government's minerals permitting agency, has released an all new Mineral’s data pack.

The 2016 Minerals Exploration Data Pack combines a large selection of open-file geophysical, geochemical and geological datasets, minerals reports and prospectivity studies.

It includes a comprehensive spatial data set; spatial measurements linked to GNS Science’s Geological Map of New Zealand; expanded geochemical data sets; and an updated mineral occurrence database tailored for New Zealand’s minerals industry.

NZP&M Manager Commercial Analysis and Investment David Darby says the 2016 Minerals Exploration Data Pack sets a new standard for the delivery of essential minerals data sets.

“Following a similar template to the Petroleum Exploration Data Pack, the Minerals Exploration Data Pack will progressively be added to, featuring the best and most recent releases of minerals exploration data. It will also be the primary portal for Government funded data & geosciences, such as the Regional Aeromag Survey Project and selected prospectivity studies.

“The Minerals Exploration Data Pack is an essential tool that will help investors quickly and easily recognise mineral opportunities in New Zealand.”
