New Kermadec mineral reservation
A new mineral reservation over the Kermadec and Colville Arcs has been put in place for two years until 2021 replacing a reservation that expires on 4 July.
This means that permits for minerals will not be granted or extended in relation to this area (specified in the Schedule of Reserve Area below).
The new reservation takes effect from 5 July 2019 to 4 July 2021.
Extending the reservation is considered necessary to better meet the purposes of the Crown Minerals Act 1991.
This notice is made under section 28A of the Crown Minerals Act 1991, whereby the Minister of Energy and Resources may declare that permits will not be granted in respect of specified land during a specified period if he or she believes the declaration is necessary to better meet the purpose of the Act.
