Updated Petroleum Exploration Data Pack released
We have released the 2025 Petroleum Exploration Data Pack which provides New Zealand's most comprehensive collection of open-file petroleum exploration data.
This is the first major update since 2018 and incorporates all open-file well and seismic data released up to the end of 2025. Since the previous release, 74 wells and 31 3D seismic surveys have been added, including almost 16,000 km² of new 3D seismic coverage.
The Data Pack contains well, seismic, geological and geochemical information, along with prospectivity studies, interpretation projects and technical reports. It also includes quality-controlled composite well data for 728 wells, production data for all producing fields, and a Kingdom project containing New Zealand's open-file well and seismic data.
The Data Pack is available through a secure Microsoft Azure cloud environment, enabling data to be accessed and downloaded without the need for physical media. An administration fee of NZ$350 (excluding GST) applies per download.
